Sod turned for new €13m development at Limerick hospital

Construction on the new €13 million development on the grounds of the Mid Western Regional Hospital has begun.The six storey unit with a total floor area of 5115m2 will contain vital services for patients including treatment for breast diseases, strokes and neurological conditions, Cystic Fibrosis and skin disorders. The development will also include a new canteen for the hospital, in place of the existing and includes extensions to existing wards.

The project is being funded by the Mid-Western Hospitals Development Trust, the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland and the Parkinson’s Association of Ireland, with the support of the JP McManus charitable foundation.

Contractors JJ Rhatigan & Co. have commenced work and over 100 hundred jobs will be provided during the construction stage of the project.
