The hospital is divided into two major blocks – one block houses the therapies area, and the other contains the wards. The two blocks are connected by bridges at all levels. The design of the structure was particularly demanding due to the non-repetitive nature of the floor layouts. There is a wide variation in the room sizes, so careful coordination within the design team was required to agree a structural system which had the least impact on the circulation both internally and externally to account for the widely varying levels across the site.

It will provide a full range of therapy services; Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Neuro-Psychology, Medical Social Work, Clinical Nutrition. PUNCH Consulting Engineers bring their vast experience in healthcare design to the 235-bed hospital, being built to replace the old hospital on the same site.
PUNCH Consulting Engineers are proud to bring their experience to this facility which will be on a par with the leading rehabilitation hospitals in the world. Patients can remain at the hospital for many months while undergoing treatment, and therefore it is essential that they are provided with high quality living space. This project provides a pleasant environment which has a palliative effect on patients, which research shows decreases the period of time that they remain in hospital.Back to Healthcare
