We were delighted to attend the official opening by An Tánaiste Micheál Martin of the new state of the art Ophthalmology Outpatient/Emergency Care Unit plus Theatres accommodation at the South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital in Cork.
The new ophthalmology unit is designed to serve the growing needs of eye care patients in the Cork and Kerry region and is expected to serve 45,000 patients a year. This long awaited facility, features state of the art equipment and will help to facilitate a reduction in waiting times for ophthalmology services in the region.
The contribution of all design team members was recognised by the speakers at the event in bringing this new facility to fruition. And ultimately the really positive impacts of the work we do as Consulting Engineers is never more important than in the area of healthcare, which always impacts so positively and directly on people’s lives.
PUNCH provided Civil and Structural Engineering services for all phases of this project.
