Civil Technician
Glasgow
PUNCH Consulting Engineers have a vacancy for an experienced Civil Technician. The position is available at our office at Templeton Street, Glasgow. The successful candidate will work across a large portfolio of prestigious projects supporting both our Scottish & Irish operations.
Qualifications
You will possess a Level 6 Higher Certificate in Civil Engineering or equivalent, have a minimum of 4 years post graduate experience and have attained Technician Membership status at ICE or equivalent professional body.
Job Description
As a Civil Technician you will develop not only your technical skills but also your management and commercial skills. You will receive on the job training and take part in the CPD programme that occurs during Office hours. It is also expected that you will undertake CPD out of office hours by the attendance on lectures, seminars etc + technical reading.

- A sound understanding of engineering principles and a strong technical focus, ability to apply engineering principles and codes of practice to solve technical problems using a variety of civil and structural engineering materials.

- Leadership skills to plan, manage and direct human resources required to solve complex problems in multi-disciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities & Activities
- As a senior technician you will be responsible for the technical and managerial delivery of drawings and schedules for projects.
- Your work will be carried out in accordance with the company ISO procedures.
- Effective delivery of projects
- Prepare risk assessments, health & safety plans.
- Check concept and technical correctness of work prepared by other technicians.
- Effective communication skills to facilitate written and verbal interaction with colleagues, team members, contractors and clients.
- Demonstrate efficient work practices, avoiding abortive work, working within budget, tracking extra services and ensuring the effective use of resources.
- Develop new Client relationships and manage established Client relationships.
- Develop the skills of staff that report to you through mentoring, delegation and training.
- Ensure that quality of output is maintained at a high level.
- Assist engineers in production of engineering drawings and schedules.
- Attendance at meetings.
Key Deliverables
- Responsible for producing technical civil engineering drawings in AutoCAD and Civil 3D to a high standard in accordance with company procedures.
- Technical knowledge across civil engineering discipline
- Clear, concise and user friendly written and verbal communication.
- Demonstrate efficient work practices, avoiding abortive work, working within budget, tracking extra services and ensuring the effective use of resources.
- Work closely in partnership with Clients, Contractors, other members of the design team and colleagues
- Manage established Client relationships.
- Ongoing commitment of CPD with a minimum of 3 days relevant CPD per year (attained in and out of office hours).
- Commitment to the public interest in all aspects of your work including health, safety, risk, financial, commercial, legal, environmental, social, energy conservation, sustainability.
