PUNCH has over 140 staff across its 6 offices: 4 in Ireland and 2 in the UK (Glasgow and Macclesfield).
Our Professional Development Programme is a formal and structured programme focused on ensuring an effective and successful path to Chartership. PUNCH Consulting Engineers’ Graduate Programme is the first stage of our Professional Development Programme.
PUNCH is recognised for creating a welcoming, nurturing, inclusive and positive working environment for all. You will benefit from practical support and “on the job” mentoring daily from your friendly workers who are eager to share their knowledge and know-how with you, and yes, this includes regular director engagement.
Training will consist of on-the-job learning, in-house lectures, recommended reading lists by discipline, workshops, employee-led webinars combined with external training courses through Engineers Ireland, the ACEI and others. We will sign you up for the Engineers Ireland Certificate in Professional Engineering on joining PUNCH. As members of the CPD Accreditation Scheme with Engineers Ireland our programme will ensure you achieve and exceed the Annual CPD requirements of Engineers Ireland.
All Graduates are assigned a dedicated mentor who will work with you to develop a personalised programme. Your mentor will be a Chartered Engineer and ideally positioned to help ensure you achieve chartered status at the earliest opportunity.
Training will encapsulate Design, Site Experience, Commercial Awareness, Project Management, Communication, Health & Safety.
Progression to Chartership is a major goal for all of our Graduate Engineers. Under our proven and dedicated professional development programme, we will help you realise your goals. On joining PUNCH, we make a commitment to you, not just as a Graduate Engineer, but throughout your career. We invest in our people, both in human terms and financially, to ensure you achieve your goals, both as a person and professionally. Five of our current board of directors came through the PUNCH Graduate programme.
You will get the opportunity to work across a very diverse range of projects across Residential, Commercial, Healthcare, Education, Logistics, Offices, Retail, Leisure & Hospitality, Infrastructure & Conservation.
You will be empowered to carry out site inspections and check designs , all in the company of more senior staff.
Regular mentoring meetings backed up by progress reports ensure that you remain on track to broaden and deepen your skills as an engineer.
PUNCH is committed to its Hybrid Working policy. We also recognise the need for junior staff to be present in the office to a greater degree than more senior staff, to facilitate their training and development and general intellectual knowledge of the company. This also requires senior staff to be present in the office to provide that essential in-person mentoring and training in both a direct and indirect manner.
PUNCH is a leader in our field of Engineering Consultancy with vast experience in multidisciplinary services including Civil, Environmental, Structural, Roads & Bridges, Marine & Energy and Conservation.
