Project Description
Hotel Development
This radical new seven storey hotel development, located on the existing single story Strand hotel site, revitalises the heart of Limerick City Quays. Located directly adjacent to the Ennis Road and Sarsfield Bridge, this new €75M development offers a state of the art 200 bedroom Hotel & Leisure Centre, 180 modern-day Apartments, and 360 underground car parking spaces. There are two primary hotel blocks, 6 and 7 storeys high respectively, connected by a 7 storey high glazing and feature steelwork atrium with panoramic lift cores. The cantilevering hotel Suite balconies present panoramic views of Limerick City Castle and the River Shannon from behind a suspended, 5 storey architecturally glazed screen. The hotel ground floor area offers a new Leisure centre, including a Health & Beauty Spa, a 20m swimming pool, a plunge pool, sauna & steam room, a jacuzzi and also a large Function Room hall. To facilitate architectural requirements, both the swimming pool and function hall areas are constructed free of columns using 12m and 18m lattice trusses respectively. Each truss weighs in excess of 33T, and carry the 6 and 7 storeys of hotel located directly above.
Apartment Development
The apartment development consists of 4 main blocks varying in height from 3 storey to 5 storey, all radically situated around a suspended garden slab. The apartment structures are situated on top of 2 levels of car park structure and are entirely supported on large in-situ reinforced concrete transfer structures.
