Retirement of Long Standing PUNCH Employee John Horgan

We recently celebrated the retirement of one of our longest serving employees John Horgan. John joined PUNCH in 1979 and quickly became a central cog of the company. He consistently delivered drawings of the highest quality during the 46 years that he spent with PUNCH. John recalled on the night the considerable changes that have taken place during his career most notably the transition from the drawing board to the computer in the early 1990’s.

He noted that many at the time were unconvinced by this radical change and were of the view that the computer would never catch on! Little did John realize at the time how well he would subsequently master the computer and the later transition from 2D AutoCad to 3D BIM.

We would like to sincerely thank John for his immensely positive contribution to the success of PUNCH over all those years and we wish John a long and happy retirement. We hope that he will continue to drop into our Limerick office for a chat and maybe even continue to share his wisdom and knowledge with the next generation.

At PUNCH, we understand the value of education. That’s why we support our staff who wish to undertake further education and training. We encourage staff members to maintain their Continuous Professional Development (CPD) accreditations with Engineers Ireland. We also continue to offer training in sustainable design and construction through seminars, in-house lectures, and external training programmes. We promote the achievement of professional titles with institutions such as Engineers Ireland, the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland, the Institute of Structural Engineers, and the Institute of Civil Engineers.
