Cian joined PUNCH Consulting Engineers in 2003 in their Limerick office after graduating with a first class honours degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from University College Cork. Cian has since progressed through Design, Project and Senior engineering grades within PUNCH. Cian relocated to the PUNCH Cork office in 2013 and was appointed Cork office Manager and Technical Director in 2014. Cian was subsequently appointed Director in 2017 with responsibility for Business Development and Strategy within the company.
Cian has significant project experience in Civil and Structural engineering across a broad range of sectors including education, residential, commercial, healthcare, industrial and leisure. These projects have included large scale business parks, sports stadia, university buildings, urban renewal projects, mixed use town centre redevelopments, solid waste facilities, solid fuel manufacturing facilities with project values of up to €100m. All of his designs encompass economy, innovation and flair many of which have received awards in recognition of their excellence.
Cian also has a very keen interest in Energy, Sustainability and Environmental matters. Cian recently undertook further studies in this area, graduating with an MSc in Renewable Energy Systems Technology from the University of Loughborough in 2014. Cian is an active member of Energy Cork, the industry driven cluster which pursues coordinated actions to strengthen enterprise and employment within the energy sector in the Cork region. Cian also is a member of Cork County Council’s Environment Strategic Policy Committee.
Cian has a varied range of interests outside of his work. He is a sporting enthusiast and competitively participates in athletics, rowing and triathlon. He also has a keen interest in travel, gardening and music.
At PUNCH, we understand the value of education. That’s why we support our staff who wish to undertake further education and training. We encourage staff members to maintain their Continuous Professional Development (CPD) accreditations with Engineers Ireland. We also continue to offer training in sustainable design and construction through seminars, in-house lectures, and external training programmes. We promote the achievement of professional titles with institutions such as Engineers Ireland, the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland, the Institute of Structural Engineers, and the Institute of Civil Engineers.
