Located just outside the urban environment of Thurles Town, the Thurles Sports Campus will see the delivery of state-of-the-art sporting and community facilities on the grounds of the Technological University.
The proposed development includes:
- A tennis centre with six clay courts covered by a proprietary fixed membrane clad structure.
- One 4G AstroTurf GAA-sized floodlit pitch, capable of accommodating multiple field sports.
- Two sand-carpet, GAA-sized pitches capable of accommodating multiple field sports.
- One viewing stand structure, with 600 covered seats facing the 4G pitch, and capacity for 400 viewers of the sand-carpet pitch. The structure will incorporate team dressing rooms to service the pitches.
- A flood-lit walking / jogging track with exercise stations around the pitches.
- An extension to the existing Sportslab facility to incorporate office accommodation.
- A flood-lit multi-sport training area with rebound wall.
- Car, coach and bicycle parking, and services infrastructure.
PUNCH have completed an extensive planning design with the wider design team, including value engineering exercises. The site works involves significant earthworks design and site attenuation measures.
PUNCH completed the civil design and traffic modelling for the planning application. The scheme was granted planning in mid-2023 and is currently at detailed design stage.

We encourage staff members to maintain their Continuous Professional Development (CPD) accreditations with Engineers Ireland. We also continue to offer training in sustainable design and construction through seminars, in-house lectures, and external training programmes. We promote the achievement of professional titles with institutions such as Engineers Ireland, the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland, the Institute of Structural Engineers, and the Institute of Civil Engineers.
