PUNCH Consulting Engineers has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and proactive Health & Safety professional to join our growing team. Due to continued growth within our Health & Safety Division, we are seeking an experienced Health & Safety professional to support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects across our Buildings, Infrastructure and Energy sectors. The successful candidate will provide Health & Safety leadership throughout the project lifecycle, including undertaking the role of Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) on complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
You will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture across the business, working closely with our leadership team, project teams and clients to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing are achieved and maintained throughout all stages of project delivery.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
- Embedding a strong health and safety philosophy and culture across the project ensuring that all safety standards are adhered to including all applicable client safety standards.
- Reporting on Health and Safety compliance on the project to Management on a weekly basis.
- Undertaking the role of Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP), coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, specialist consultants and managed contractors to ensure Health & Safety risks are identified, assessed and managed throughout the design process, and that all parties meet their obligations under applicable legislation.
- Leading and facilitating regular Health & Safety workshops with multidisciplinary design teams to identify, assess and manage project risks throughout the design process. Responsibilities include preparing meeting agendas, chairing workshops, documenting key decisions, and issuing minutes and action trackers to ensure the effective implementation and close-out of agreed actions.
- Spotlighting particular Health and Safety matters and presenting to project team within daily/weekly project control tower meetings.
- Collaborating with Front End Engineering Designer (FEED) and multidisciplinary design teams to review, challenge and enhance design deliverables, ensuring Health & Safety considerations are embedded from the earliest stages of design.
- Reviewing and maintaining project safety standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure alignment with legislative requirements, industry standards and best practice.
- Monitoring Health & Safety performance, undertaking audits and reviews, identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting the implementation of corrective actions.
- Organising and promoting safety campaigns, awareness initiatives and learning activities to foster a positive and proactive safety culture.

Candidate Specification
- Detailed knowledge of Safety Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 and all subsequent amendments.
- A sound understanding of COMAH Regulations 2015.
- Strong report writing capability.
- Strong acumen to review regulations, guidance documents etc relating to specific industries and concisely summarise applicable requirements.
- Leadership skills to plan, manage and direct multi-disciplinary teams and managed contractors.
- Good IT skills including MS Project, Word, Excel, Power Point etc.
- High level of commercial understanding and application.
- A successful track record working closely in partnership with clients, contractors and design teams, as well as Health and Safety Authority.
- A positive, proactive approach with an ability to adapt to changing scenarios.
- Strong interpersonal/people skills with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Self-motivated with ability to work in an unstructured environment.
- Commitment to the public interest in all aspects of your work including health, safety, risk, financial, commercial, legal, environmental, social, energy conservation, sustainability.

- Competitive remuneration package, commensurate with experience, the salary band for this role of band of €65,000 to €80,000 depending on seniority and location.
