Fulltime, Hybrid, 3 days in the office and 2 remote days

The Opportunity

PUNCH Consulting Engineers, is seeking a Hydrologist & Flood Modelling Engineer to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer with a strong interest in hydrology, hydraulic modelling, and flood risk assessment. In this role, you will take ownership of smaller-scale projects while contributing to larger, more complex assignments under the guidance of senior engineers. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality technical outputs and supporting sustainable infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities of the Role

  • Undertake hydrological and hydraulic assessments in a design engineering environment.
  • Apply industry-standard methodologies, including FSR, FSU, and related approaches.
  • Develop and run hydraulic models using software such as TUFLOW, Flood Modeller Pro, MIKE, HEC-RAS, and InfoWorks (1D, 2D, and integrated modelling).
  • Utilise GIS tools (e.g. QGIS or equivalent) for spatial analysis and mapping.
  • Prepare and contribute to Site-Specific Flood Risk Assessments (up to Stage 3).
  • Produce clear, concise, and high-quality technical reports.
  • Ensure compliance with national flood risk management guidelines and relevant legislation.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to environmentally sustainable design solutions.

 Key Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in hydrology, hydraulic modelling, or flood risk assessment within a consultancy or similar environment.
  • Strong technical proficiency in hydraulic modelling and GIS tools.
  • Good understanding of Irish flood risk management guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Proactive and solutions-focused, with a willingness to learn and continuously improve.

What We Offer You

  • Competitive remuneration package, commensurate with experience, the salary band for this role of band of €45,000 to €60,000 depending on experience and location.
