PUNCH Consulting Engineers provided structural consulting engineering for the construction of steelwork frames associated with maintenance platforms and pipe supports for a new wastewater treatment plant in Ringsend, Dublin.
The Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade Project was set up to deliver the expansion works required at the largest plant in the Greater Dublin Area at Ringsend which has provided wastewater treatment since 1906.
PUNCH’s role in the project involved the design and detail of structural steelwork associated with supporting pipework and maintenance access platforms. The project was delivered in a BIM Level 2 environment ensuring a high level of collaboration and co-ordination between the various disciplines BIM models.
PUNCH carried out the design and detailing using innovative software Tekla Structural Designer integrated with Revit Structures ensuring an efficient design and accurate representation of frame deflections caused by thrust block forces in the pipework.
