PUNCH was appointed by Limerick City & County Council to undertake the design of the Condell Road Active Travel Scheme.
The purpose of the project was to provide dedicated cycle facilities from Coonagh Roundabout to the Shelbourne Road/Condell Road junction. The full length of the scheme is approximately 3.5km along a designated primary route for the city centre and including 2 large roundabouts and a signal-controlled junction.
All design is in accordance with the National Cycle Manual, Design Manual for Urban Roads and Street and the National Transport Authority Project Approval Guidelines and approved at all the relevant hold stages of the project.
PUNCH has been appointed to deliver NTA Phases 2-4 and, to date, the following works have been completed:
- Needs Assessment Report
The following stages are yet to be completed:
- Options Report (including MCA assessment)
- Preliminary Design of Preferred Route
- Part 8 Planning Approval

We encourage staff members to maintain their Continuous Professional Development (CPD) accreditations with Engineers Ireland. We also continue to offer training in sustainable design and construction through seminars, in-house lectures, and external training programmes. We promote the achievement of professional titles with institutions such as Engineers Ireland, the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland, the Institute of Structural Engineers, and the Institute of Civil Engineers.
