Cable Grid Route Engineering Due Diligence Reports for Bord Na Móna

PUNCH conducted a comprehensive route options assessment focusing on three distinct routes, measuring approximately 5 kilometres in length. This process began with our team undertaking a thorough site appraisal, during which we performed a detailed visual survey of the proposed paths was conducted. The primary goal of this survey was to identify any potential constraints that could impact the feasibility of each route. Following completion of this initial assessment, an extensive desktop study analysing various factors that could influence the decision-making process was completed for each of the three options.

To ensure detailed evaluation, a multi-criteria assessment, was utilised which allowed a systematically comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of each route to be made. This assessment took into account a range of criteria, including environmental impact, accessibility, construction challenges, and overall cost implications. The findings of this comprehensive analysis were carefully documented in a detailed Route Options report, which was prepared for the client’s review.

PUNCH also prepared detailed drawings to illustrate the underground cable pinch points. These drawings served as a visual representation of the critical areas where potential constraints may arise, providing valuable insights for future planning and decision-making. The comprehensive approach utilised by PUNCH ensured that the client was well-informed and equipped with all the necessary information to select the most suitable route for their project.
