Project Description
The Ballyfarm project, originally designed by PUNCH around 2000, had seen partial construction by the client over the years.
In 2018, PUNCH was tasked with redesigning the connection from the partially finished Ballyfarm Road to link with a new road that would serve a large distribution depot for LIDL. This road layout will eventually form part of the Newbridge Outer Ring Road.
Our teams provided technical guidance throughout the statutory process, including details on reinstatement related to Irish Water’s proposed Upper Liffey Valley Sewerage Scheme. This scheme involved installing a 4-meter deep, 900mm diameter trunk foul water sewer in Ballyfarm Road.
PUNCH undertook the detailed design as part of a design-and-build arrangement for Murphy International Ltd. This concerned the aforementioned 900mm sewer, ensuring it avoided disrupting the extensive pipelines already laid in the original Ballyfarm Road.
We designed the necessary upgrades for Ballyfarm Road to ensure it could be formally taken in charge by Kildare County Council.
