Project Description
Churchfield Phase 1 marks the inaugural major phase of Housing Regeneration by Limerick City & County Council in the Southill area of Limerick City. This development comprises 42 units, featuring a combination of high-density two-storey terraced and semi-detached homes, as well as three-storey terraced and apartment units. The design includes roads with shared home zones and landscaped public open spaces.
Previously, the site was a backfilled quarry, resulting in diverse ground conditions, ranging from prominent rock outcrops to manmade fill at depths of up to 8 meters. The area has a history of significant flooding, which necessitated gas monitoring as part of the site investigation process.
The project brief also included provisions for future road developments and enhancements to the existing sewer network to support upcoming residential projects.
