Project Description
Coillte CGA sought a Grid/Planning and Environmental Consultant for renewable energy project sites at Gortyrahilly, Inchamore, and Clydaghroe. PUNCH was chosen to assess feasibility for 110kV underground grid connections, performing site evaluations covering utilities, historical usage, flooding, environmental and archaeological factors, and more.
A site walk survey was conducted for thorough data collection, followed by cost and risk assessments of the cable route per meter.
Detailed comparative reports were delivered to Coillte which identified conflict areas, potential issues and investigation works required to carry out design of the crossings as part of the cable route installation.
The reports reviewed the existing available environmental, geotechnical, planning, utilities and hydrological information for the routes. The reports highlighted the impact of any of this information on the proposed routes. The reports also included a preliminary high-level costing and identification of construction risks for the routes based on a desktop study and a photographic survey.
PUNCH made a recommendation on the most viable route for each site based on assessment included in the report.
