Project Description
PUNCH Consulting Engineers was tasked with preparing a Civil and Structural Engineering Due Diligence Report for the proposed cable routes at Mushera Wind Farm, Millstreet, on behalf of Brookfield Renewable Energy Group.
This report assessed the existing environmental, geotechnical, planning, utilities, and hydrological data for the routes, documenting the potential impacts and constraints on the proposed routes. It also contained a preliminary high-level cost estimate and identified construction risks based on a desktop analysis and photographic survey.
The report pinpointed areas of conflict, potential challenges, and the necessary site investigation work required for designing the crossings as part of the cable route installation. PUNCH recommended the most viable route based on the comprehensive assessment.
Notably, the site is archaeologically sensitive, and the land use along the route is primarily agricultural, interspersed with areas of forestry and bog.
Our route options report presented the client with four potential grid connection possibilities following site investigations. We shared our expert opinion on the most feasible option, considering the constraints regarding construction viability.
