14-16 South Frederick St., Glasgow

The proposed design entails the removal of the existing ground floor slab within both retail units to create a unified, expanded space at basement level. This process will require the installation of temporary support systems to ensure structural stability, including the propping of existing cast iron columns and the integration of new steel portal frames and foundations. All works will be undertaken with meticulous attention to maintaining the building’s integrity and safety throughout.

PUNCH Consulting were appointed by the client to provide the following Structural Engineering services:
• An assessment of the existing structure, given the various structural alterations and changes in building use during the life span of the building.
• Produce a conceptual design for the new proposed internal layout and removal of ground floor.
• Detailed design and drawings for Building Warrant application.
• SER certification of works.
• Liase with temporary design contractor.
• Tender and construction stage works up to project completion.
