Office Blocks 2 + 3 & Radisson Red Hotel Crown Square

The Crown Square Project, situated on a 5.2-hectare site in Galway, was originally started in 2008 but paused during construction. It resumed in 2018 with a revised plan for 40,000m² of Grade A office space in five blocks meeting LEED Gold standards, along with a hotel, apartments, and retail units.

The first phase included the construction of two office blocks, designed with a steel frame over a remediated 2-storey concrete basement substructure. Retaining this existing structure significantly reduced the embodied carbon, enhancing sustainability and reducing costs. The two office buildings were completed in 2022.

The second phase, a 10,258m² hotel under the Radisson RED brand, began in June 2023 and was completed by December 2024. This 7-storey building was constructed over a 2-storey basement, and provides 177 bedrooms.

The project also included significant civil engineering upgrades to the adjacent public roads, with the agreement of the council. Internal site works included sustainable drainage solutions, such as permeable paving, to limit surface water flows to the public sewer network.
