Building upon the successful delivery of Contracts 1 through 4, each involving PUNCH, Contract 5 focused on the next phase of improvements to tenement flats across the Govanhill area of Glasgow. This phase encompassed internal repairs, upgrades, and structural alterations across 36 properties.
The primary aim of the project was to enhance living conditions and alleviate overcrowding, while addressing both the internal and external condition of the acquired properties. In doing so, the programme sought to implement a more efficient system of property management and maintenance so as to better respond to housing needs, and provide meaningful support to new tenants and residents.
Through ownership by the Association, the initiative also aimed to establish a more balanced tenure mix, offering secure and affordable tenancies to residents.
All upgraded flats were refurbished to meet or exceed the Scottish Housing Quality Standards (SHQS), with significant improvements made to energy efficiency in alignment with the Energy Efficiency Standard for Scottish Social Housing (EESSH).
Structural alterations within several properties were comprehensively designed and detailed by PUNCH. The team collaborated closely with the appointed contractor, offering on-site technical guidance throughout various structural repair processes. These efforts ensured consistently safe working conditions and the implementation of robust temporary works solutions.
