Bardyke Chemicals

PUNCH served as the Civil & Structural Designers and Lead Consultant for a chemical manufacturing and packaging plant project. They provided comprehensive Civil & Structural design from concept to completion, which included:

  • Replacing concrete portals with new steel portal frames for 2 & 3 bay extensions.
  • Removing asbestos cement sheets from the south building and replacing them with insulated profiled steel sheets by Metecno Bausysterme GmbH.
  • Confirming that the existing water treatment system met new proposals after consultation with SEPA.
  • Detailing surface water drainage in line with SUDS Manual principles and relevant regulations.

Trial pits revealed firm/stiff clay with a safe bearing pressure of 150kN/m², supporting the structure on concrete strip and pad foundations, along with a ground-bearing concrete slab.
